Raleigh, North Carolina-Oprah is not the only one with a list of favorite things. Out and About likes to shop locally, so we compiled a list of our favorite gifts this holiday season. We only focus on products made in North Carolina.

Tonya's Cookies-Speaking of Oprah, she chose this fantastic cookie brand as one of her favorite gifts this year! We have been fans of these cookies for many years. Crispy pecan cookies, as well as white chocolate, chocolate and mint chocolate, are delicious and light!

Big Spoon Roasters Nut Butters-This Durham-based company provides delicious nut butters! Although these jars are more expensive than ordinary JIF containers, they are well worth it!

Topsail Steamer-Use one of these "Bay Buckets" filled with seafood, meat, corn, potatoes and homemade seasonings to give away local seafood. You can order buckets online for delivery or pickup at one of two locations in North Carolina-Wrightsville Beach and Topsail Island. The bucket only needs to be steamed at home before serving. I recently tried one and it is really easy to do. Just read the instructions. Put potatoes, seafood, corn, sausages, etc. in the pot, put a few layers of seasonings (provided seasonings!) in the middle, and then steam on the stove. Prices range from US$60 to US$220.

Chapel Hill Toffee-This handmade dark chocolate and pecan toffee is a holiday favorite, perfect for making socks.

Moravian Cookies-Salem Baking Company has many of these classic cookies to choose from. We like the taste of chocolate.

Food maps-the great North Carolina barbecue map, the great North Carolina fried chicken map, and the North Carolina beer map are great stocking fillers to help prepare for summer road trips. You can find them at DECO in downtown Raleigh and Sweet Tea and Cornbread in Crabtree Valley Mall.

Spirits from a local distillery-Young Hearts Distilling in downtown Raleigh not only has a great heated terrace, but also sells gin and vodka on site. If you are going to hang around there, grab some shareable plates and enjoy some cocktails! Other wineries worth seeing: Durham Winery, Alderoli Winery, TOPO Winery, Lonerider Winery and Pinetop.

Little Waves Coffee-Buy some local coffee beans from this Durham coffee shop. They have some great mixes and can choose to pick up and ship them in the store.

Carolina Corn from Chad-This delicious popcorn from North Carolina is one of our favorites. We are fans of the flavor of Buffalo Wing.

Poppy Handmade Popcorn-Available in honey barbecue and southern pecan pie, almost everyone has a choice for your taste.

La Farm Bakery’s Buche De Noel and Artisan Snowman bread-This Cary bakery has many great holiday options, but we are big fans of Buche De Noel, a traditional French holiday dessert made from soft Genoise The cake is made, filled with light mousse and covered with decadent Belgian cream. We also like the handmade bread in the shape of a snowman!

Ginny O's Cheese Straws-These straws are made in Raleigh. They are delicious and attracted the attention of Oprah Winfrey, who featured them in her magazine.
