KNAC.COM-Features-JUNKMAN Review 2021 AFTERSHOCK FESITVAL

2021-12-06 10:29:40 By : Mr. Gary Hou

-Advertisement-Live photos of Lexie Alley, Nathan Zucker, Steve Thrasher and Sam Shapiro were cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 crisis. Aftershock Festival returned to the Discovery Park in Sacramento, the capital of California, for the ninth time. It's a 4-day event now, and I check out as much as possible again. Due to Covid restrictions, unfortunately I am not eligible for a photo pass this year, so I will not use my commonly used photo library in this report. In fact, no one got the pass except for a few carefully selected photographers. This is a decision made by the organizers. Danny Wimmer Presents is to ensure the safety of all of us, because usually at the beginning of each band there will be a large group of people crowded in the photo pit. In fact, I commend DWP for caring about the safety of participants because this festival attracts as many as 40,000 people every day. Participants are required to provide a vaccination certificate or a recent negative test before entering the venue, and there is a testing kiosk outside the gate, which has become the standard. Entering the backstage, especially artists, is very limited. There is no usual "meeting" and autograph session at the sponsoring booth this year. This is the saddest part for me. When fans see their idols for the first time, they are always happy to see the expressions on their faces, and DWP has always done a great job in removing the barriers between rock stars and fans. Unfortunately, due to the severity of this epidemic, these are challenges and changes that we all have to face. Like many people, the restrictions of this year's festival did not prevent me from attending. I will miss the friendship with my fellow photojournalists, and my interactions with the band, public relations staff, and most of the insiders who usually attend this event. I decided to participate instead of hurriedly filming the first three songs of each band from stage to stage (standard rules for filming bands) may not only be beneficial to enjoy a longer band setup, but also to have time with many vendors Get along with the incident. This is how I did it. Of all the DWP festivals they hold throughout the United States every year, I have to say that Aftershock is my favorite for many reasons. Obviously, logistics is one of them. Sacramento is a 45-minute flight from my home in Southern California. But the venue is the real reason. The exploration park is surrounded by trees and rivers, making it a good place for festival celebrations. There are many places to relax and enjoy quiet time, and the sight is great, especially if you have a VIP package, it is always sold out. Some areas have shores and under trees, so this is a good place to watch your favorite band. Getting in and out is also very convenient. They even set up a shuttle service this year. There are many accommodations and many food and beverage options both inside and outside the festival venue. One thing I really like is that the beer vendors are all volunteers. More importantly, the security personnel are well trained and very helpful. As for the musical performances to be performed, this is the best place for some of the biggest performances on the track. METALLICA will be the title of two shows on Friday and Sunday nights instead of one. Two different sets were promised, and everyone, from the promoters, staff, and especially the participants, was very excited. In particular, it was announced at the 2019 event that METALLICA will indeed participate in all scheduled DWP events on two nights in 2020. As we all know, when the blockade happened, it was a heavy blow to everyone. Of course, DWP had to postpone and reschedule all their activities until 2021. Initially, in 2019, it was also announced that the 2021 Aftershock Festival would be performed by the reunited MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, but the band decided to postpone the tour until 2022. To make matters worse, the Covid-19 safety issue should be attributed to LIMP BIZKIT, the performer who canceled the reservation, and their replacement, FAITH NO MORE, which started on the opening night of the film festival. They in turn were replaced by CYPRESS HILL. Yes, the Covid-19 crisis has indeed hit DWP severely. Fortunately for all of us, they regrouped and restarted. Therefore, on Thursday, the first night of the 4 nights of the music festival, the classic Thrash metal opened the door to this year's party. The METALLICA companions of the San Francisco Bay Area may be the headlines on Friday and Sunday, but tonight belong to some of the other biggest and strongest bands in the genre. In fact, three of them-TESTAMENT, EXODUS and DEATH ANGEL will tour together in the upcoming "Bay Strikes Back" tour. When DEATH ANGEL opened with "Where they Lay", things really started. This is the first single and video of their new live album The Bastard Tracks, which will naturally be released on "Black Friday" on November 26. Singer Mark Osegueda pointed out that this is the band's first performance in 2 years, and he is obviously happy to return to the stage after being away from the festival for so long. Guitarists Rob Cavenstany and Ted Aguilar took "Thrown to The Wolves" to another level. They ended their quick setup with the title song of their latest studio album, Humanicide in 2019. EXODUS also brought their "A Game" and treated the crowd cruelly with seven songs, ending with back-to-back sensory attacks of "Bonded By Blood", "The Toxic Waltz" and "Strike of The Beast". The band literally "bitch" used their true power to bring the ecstatic crowd to submission. The entire set was a huge pit, and their fans went all out and completely devoted themselves to the massacre. There is a collective respite at the end of the episode, but this is only temporary. That's because ANTHRAX followed closely behind and did what they had always done, rushing to the crowd with the amazing rhythm of the kick drum of Charlie Benante, the drummer. A set of classic tracks by New York bands, including the opening song "Among the Living", Joe Jackson's cover of "Got the Time" (ANTHRAX really owns) and "Caught In A Mosh", this is every time you see ANTHRAX live broadcast That always happens. Singer Joey Belladonna is a virtual cheerleader who seems to have never had a "bad day" in the office. Scott Ian and Frank Bello have been in sports. At the same time, although Bello is knocking on his head and Ian has his own personal stage mosh pit, lead guitarist Jonathan Donais seems completely content with just playing with his axe. Using "Indians" to complete their collection of nine songs, everyone laughed, especially the band members. They like most of the other bands on the bill and are happy to be able to play live and kill hordes of fans. TESTAMENT does and does take it to another level. I don't know how to describe it, but they consistently absorb the energy of the crowd, doubling it no matter who plays in front of them. From the opening note of "Rise Up" to the end of "Disciples of The Watch", they are all in a frenzy. Singer Chuck "Chief" Billy has been smiling and making faces. Guitarist Alex Skolnick's incredible improvisation, especially in "Practice what you preach" and yes, "The next level of kids" (see where I do What's wrong?) Make the aftershock field look like a battlefield. The corpses flew around, making safety nowhere to be seen. What this group of people needs, maybe this is the way the festival organizers plan it, is a bit "calm" or a change of rhythm, because the rhythm of TESTAMENT and those who performed before them have forced this group of people to the point of exhaustion. . It was Los Angeles hip-hop rock singer CYPRESS HILL who intervened to end the night. Supporters of cannabis used LONG before California's legalization, especially before it became the preferred remedy for the various harms known to mankind by Gen X. Their cannabis theme songs such as "Hits From The Bong" and "Roll It" "Up", Light It Up, Smoke It Up" is just an antidote to ease the crowd a little bit. Or maybe the exposure is high. However, the performance of CYPRESS HILL is not completely round. They can still ignite the crowd as easily as igniting a blunt instrument. , They ended the hour-long collection with three popular dances, including the crowd singing "rock star", fashionable beat-driven "Insane In The Brain" and more recent scenes, which are the classics of HOUSE OF PAIN. "Jump Around" cover, most of the content is made by the same exhausted and stone-thrown crowd. All in all, this is a great party and a great way to start the weekend. I was early Friday on the second day of the festival. I arrived at the Discovery Park early enough to look around before most of the crowd arrived. As soon as I walked in, I saw a series of panels measuring about 15 feet x 15 feet, each decorated with a different METALLICA album cover. One of them has a MISFITS cover, which is very suitable for taking pictures. I did it naturally. As usual, for the same purpose, there are huge panels to spell AFTERSHOCK. These are the detailed information that the DWP staff continues to provide to the attendees. These Over the years, they have provided a lot of things. Who can forget the metal and fire-breathing beasts at the Louisville Bilife Music Festival a few years ago? I also visited some suppliers. METALLICA's official whiskey "Blackened" has a great booth And the bar, there are special blends made with Blackened Whisky, and actually used METALLICA road boxes for visitors to sit or rest. Of course, there are also a large number of T-shirts and hats for sale. I also visited senior artists at the music festival Also artist Ron Williams, he is the owner of Ronzworld Guitars (www.itsronzworld.com), he hand-painted guitars with the music festival logo. He also auctioned them, and has a large number of hand-painted art panels and mini guitars, as well as the Beacon in New York. Opened gallery. It’s always nice to meet Ron. We met a lot on weekends. Speaking of artists, Sean Dietrich (www.seandietrichart.com) returns to the festival with a new series of hand-painted works of art, on various surfaces On canvas, tapestries, silicone pads, T-shirts, and even custom-painted Zippo lighters and grinders for hemp and other delicacies. His The work is excellent, and Sean is always ready to answer questions about his creation. He has launched a series of new "Alice in Wonderland" themed works, you must see for yourself. Log in to his website and view them, you will be impressed. I must be. In California, marijuana is basically legal, which is like a dream come true for many indulgent people. Although not allowed on site, some companies provide weed and by-product delivery services to places near the gate. One of them is Kolas, he is the main partner of this year's festival, so that one of the main stages is "Kolas Stage". They partnered with Weedmaps, an app-based delivery service company. They played an important role in the overall joy of many participants. Their respective booths in the "Loud Lounge" area near Coors Light Stage provided participants with a lot of information and gifts. Phinest (www.phinestdistribution.com) is a local marijuana distributor in Sacramento, and I have met some of the friendliest people throughout the weekend. They were very helpful in answering questions and enjoying the overall atmosphere of the booth they helped create. The official merchandise booth was filled with almost every shirt, hoodie, hat, headscarf, etc. from more than 60 performances that participated in the festival. The official Aftershock shirt also has many new designs, most of which were sold out by the end of the weekend. Speaking of T-shirts, Rita Haney, "Dimebag's Hag" is in a booth that sells a lot of Dimebag Darrell shirts and other stolen goods. There is also a "grocery store" that sells everything from sunscreen to masks, and various stalls offering everything from pins, scarves and patches to smoking supplies and hats. There are also many food choices. Many food trucks serve typical barbecue and Mexican cuisine, as well as places such as Phat Daddy's Creole, Hefty Gyros, and Nash & Proper Hot Chicken. The places I personally "go" throughout the weekend are the various Drewski's Hot Rod food trucks, which serve a delicious mix of spicy fried chicken or pulled pork or sirloin on a bed of French fries or French fries. Then mix it with macaroni and cheese, and coat with cheese sauce etc. It sounds crazy, but carbohydrates are exactly what I need to stand up and run for a few miles all weekend. It's time to listen to music. The lineup early Friday afternoon had some great highlights. Ayron Jones opened with some low and dirty straight rock on the Jack Daniels stage and was killed. On the Kolas stage, CROBOT performed in their own strange way. Quite a good performer, this band from Pennsylvania begins with a narration, giving way to singer Brandon Yeagley to pop out of a huge egg or sphere placed on the right side of the stage, and then follow it throughout the scene like a tiger in a cage On the stage, the belts sang what they called "Dirty Groove Rock". Guitarist Chris Bishop is wobbly, and I noticed that his “Guitar flips” are the best I have ever seen, because CINDERELLA (another Pennsylvania band) first made them famous in the 1980s. DES ROCS did their thing for their fans, very fast-paced and compact. POP EVIL always seems to appear on the stage of DWP in every festival I participate in, shocking their eight songs. Singer Leigh Kakaty even jumped into the audience and "walked through" the crowd. AVATAR has always been a favorite of the public, and today is no exception. Dressed in colorful costumes, combing their hair in unison, coupled with singer Johannes Eckerstrom (Johannes Eckerstrom) "Kabuki-style" makeup, they are always performing a complete performance, when they When playing a crisp, heavy style, it is always fun to watch and listen. Scandinavian metal. At the end of the band's performance, Eckerstrom boasted "We are Avatar, we will kill you" and "We just stole this festival", which infuriated the crowd from start to finish. I walked between the Jack Daniels stages to capture DROPKICK MURPHYS and their Celtic rock brand, and walked between the Coors Light stages, watching BUTCHER BABIES, they screamed and worn in eight delightful songs Past the crowd. For me, a bright spot is that they covered the 1966 Napoleon XIV classic song "They're here to take me away, (haha)". These ladies increased their energy and everyone had a great time. Suicidal tendencies closed the Coors lighting stage, and naturally, starting with the opening notes, chaos followed. If you have ever participated in one of their performances, and I have been to many shows, once the drummer Dave Lombardo strikes the first blow of his snare drum, the whole audience will become a spinning, spinning crazy pit. It was Ty Trujillo who joined the rhythm part of Lombardo on this day, he is the son of METALLICA bassist Robert Trujillo. This kid has great ribs like his dad. He and Lombardo led the band to complete some classic ST tracks, such as the crazy opening remarks of "You Can’t Let Me Down", and really showed his bass heavy groove in "Send Me" Skills in your money". Singer Mike Muir is like a boxer on the stage, constantly exercising, pulling the crowd to crazy levels throughout the scene. His adrenaline-rising attitude is very contagious. Everyone was exhausted when they ended their performance with the "sworn of allegiance". On the Kolas stage, SEETHER did their thing for different groups of people. SEETHER played elaborate songs and seemed content to play them for fans. Apart from the occasional gangster fans, there is really not much confusion or jumping in the SEETHER performance. The South African band led by singer/guitarist Shaun Morgan occasionally stomped on the stage, but let the music do the talking. They played me My personal favorite two songs are my personal favorite songs, namely the cute 2008 "Rise Above This" and the wobbly "Bruised And Bloodied". In my opinion, this is one of the best singles of 2020. . Their fans came out in droves, and their merchandise was everywhere. They ended their performance with "Fake It", and the huge radio hit "Remedy" was tailored to the excitement of this group of people. In order to reach the top. SEETHER props to make full use of their time period. RANCID on the stage of Jack Daniels, taking into account their punk roots, provides a very interesting and compact scene. They blend punk, root rock and sci Card music merges with the subsequent band, almost like a natural chord progression. Appropriately, their opening number "Roots Radicals" confirms this. Singer/bassist Matt Freeman's rock and roll feel combined with guitar Hand/singer Tim Armstrong’s almost weird stage performance and punk rock sense, and mainly the punk-ska rhythm part, the style is very mixed. When mixed together again, you will get a very unique taste. RANCID 19 The song collection is constantly evolving from start to finish and provides a lot of material to please the public. A good example is when they made a very compact version of "Hooligans", a good example is the 1998 ska skanking classic. Mixing in the crowd. This happens again and again throughout the scene, the style and rhythm are constantly mixed. When they use their classic 1995 and Out Come The Wolves LP pair of favorite "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho "At the end of the show, the smiling and working crowd agreed with their approval. This is my weekend Favorite group. Not to be outdone, VOLBEAT absolutely owns them because they closed the Kolas stage. After the long set of RANCID and their various sounds, VOLBEAT and their own enhanced rock and metal style hit the crowd like a hammer! To say that this band is strong is an understatement. The constantly smashing rhythm part, combined with the vocals requested by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen and the crisp sound of guitarist Rob Caggiano, made this band one of my personal favorites to watch live. With the sensation of MOTORHEAD's classic "Born To Raise Hell" in the sound reinforcement system, VOLBEAT stepped onto the stage and never stopped running. With the stomping "Crown of Devil's Bleeding" opening, everyone knocked on the door in unison. The radio-friendly "Lola Montez" followed closely behind. Caggiano is wearing a white fedora. When playing slowly in the 14 songs, he seems to use his guitar like a machine gun. It seems that he has never sweated. He just looks comfortable on it. VOLBEAT is always good at paying tribute to their heroes. Johnny Cash like "Sad Man's Tongue" even added a bit of Cash's "Ring of Fire". They even covered METALLICA's "Don't Tread on Me" with a bold move because they are going to do it next, but It's good to wink at them too. The band previously played this particular number on a METALLICA tribute album. The introduction of "Dead But Rising" can still be attributed to the METALLICA riff and the band before it completely belongs to itself. One highlight is the performance of the new song "Shotgun Blues" released by their upcoming LP. This is great for fans like me who have been patiently waiting for new materials. VOLBEAT has completed their setup with "Still Counting" since 2013. The band now grins when facing the audience and then moved from the Kolas stage to the Jack D aniels stage, the most anticipated scene of the weekend. Mighty METALLICA is back! In all the years I have participated in aftershocks, I have never seen a band so crowded. I found a spot in the slightly inclined VIP area, and as far as my eyes could see, it was crowded with people. "Social distancing" will not happen. Damn it, there were still a few people who climbed to the surrounding trees to look at the scenery before they were awakened by the security guards who were actually working. The atmosphere is electric. Soon, the lights dimmed, and a familiar introduction flashed on the huge video screen from Ennio Morricone's film The Ecstasy of Gold, which the band has used as an introduction for the past few years. Just like that, it started. show time! After METALLICA took the stage, an exciting "Whiplash" broke out immediately, and the crowd became crazy. It seems that everyone around me is yelling, not every song sings lyrics, but it's not annoying, it's just enthusiasm. This band is not only admirable, but also loved. "Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves" and "Sorrow Harvester", the classics continue. The old-school METALLICA is performing in Northern California. You can feel the love of this group of people. Then they were brilliantly downgraded to "Cyanide" from the 2008 "Return" album Death Magnetic. The fans ate it. Even though the band started making music from their later careers, which has been the subject of long-term fan hatred, these songs also convey the feelings of fans. But just like that, they performed "Embers of Memory", and none of them left. Even James Hetfield had a great time with the crowd. "This album is from your favorite album" he joked because the band released a hot "Frantic" version from the critically acclaimed album released by St Anger in 2003. Fortunately for us, Lars Ulrich's snare drum doesn't sound like a trash can tonight. Their "One" video clip accompanied the introduction of the band, and the crowd around me still sang like they did in a British football game. The short burst of fireworks emphasized the last note of the song to increase the effect. Guitarist Kirk Hammett really derailed during "Moth Into Flame", and as the band made great strides, he took the wah pedal to a new level. "Who rang the bell" once again brought out the faithful of METALLICA, who stamped their feet and waved their fists, feeling like an earthquake hit Sacramento. Keep the selection of classics, including their Irish standard version "Whisky In The Jar", and their second grade version of another comeback and "Fade to Black", this is a very special song, for those who know KNAC broadcasting knowledge For people. For those who are unfamiliar, this is the last song played by the Los Angeles radio station KNAC 105.5, and it did fade in 1995. It always has a special place in my heart, and I have to admit that I had a drop or two of thinking when I heard it and saw it perform so well on this wonderful night, it started. Having said that, the next thing did set the crowd on fire. The "Master of Puppets" ended the set, and every note was absorbed and regurgitated by their fans (I mean metaphor, not literally...) and returned to the band. I really think of all their songs, somehow this is the most popular, from the smile on the band's face, they think so too. When the band left the stage with a thunderous roar, James Hetfield looked particularly happy and in a good mood. Returning to Encore is a matter of course. The group asked for more, and the band was ready. Blasting an incredible "battery" made things worse. "Fuel" followed closely, and it did exactly that, igniting the fanatical crowd, mad for all the madness that started, "seeking and destroying" took things to another level, energy wise. As crazy as things happened all day, especially in the METALLICA scene, this person brought the cake to an explosive attitude. We are like a huge 40,000 adrenaline surge. When METALLICA used the same courage they had in their teens to create this song, it satisfies the anxiety and enthusiasm of their audience. They have grown up now and they carry these songs with them in every step and every aspect of their lives. grow up. When the song ended, the band left the stage, and the hustle and bustle of the crowd finally subsided, it hit me. I just saw the best set of the best bands at the festival, and there are two days left, including another METALLICA set on Sunday night. This is why my friends participate in this event year after year. Saturday is completely vague to me. After the impact of METALLICA and the subsequent deep sleep in my hotel room, I arrived at Discovery Park on the 3rd day of the music festival and enjoyed my usual Monster Energy drink for breakfast, nothing more, but my feeling was, well, found . I came here to see bands that interest me and discover performances that I hardly know about. This is the beauty of such a holiday. In about sixty bands playing, I will see about one-third of them for the first time. There are many more that I will see for the second or third time, and it's nice to see the band's progress. Over the years, I have seen many bands "graduate" from the small stage to the main stage and become international stars. It's not bragging that "I saw them before they grow up", but to me, it's a lot like watching kids grow up. Just like a proud parent, I am always happy to participate and observe. The first band on the Jack Daniels stage was THE BLACK MOODS in Arizona. Being familiar with the music of this trio gave me a sense of what I was expecting, and they did not disappoint. Very solid and straightforward rock. With their hit single "Sunshine" as the core, they quickly played 7 songs, including the upcoming new song "Saturday Night" and my favorite song called "Bad News" ". They are a great band, very nice. Before going to the Coors lighting stage to watch SOUTH OF EDEN, I got some sets from BLAME MY YOUTH and DED. This is a band from Columbus, Ohio that I know and love. They are a very retro rock band with excellent stage performance and a young LED ZEPPELIN/GUNS N'ROSES atmosphere. In fact, they even covered two bands in their short collection, featuring singer Ehab Omran and his unique voice. Combining these skills with the solid guitar improvisation of guitarist Justin Young and the explosive drumming of drummer Tommy McCullough makes this band a must-see for all rock musicians. They have an EP called The Talk. BADFLOWER, on the Kolas stage, must have grown up since I first saw them a few years ago. They have a huge following, and their new version of "This Is How The World Ends" has received support from a large number of rock radio stations. The record was immediately reflected, and the three singles "Fuckboi", "Don't Hate Me" and "Johnny Wants To Fight" began to play back to back. Singer/guitarist Josh Katz spends less time opening up to the audience than when I saw them last time, instead letting the music do the talking. Their fans love everything they do, and many people participate in their afternoon session. The interesting set made by MACHINE GUN KELLY, also on the Kolas stage, is also a highlight. He has received a lot of media attention recently, both negative and positive. Many in his rock industry were upset by his controversial quotes of his beloved performers, and he changed from a rap artist to an actor, and is now the predecessor of a rock band. Many people in the crowd spent most of their time booing him. Others, mainly young people, were full of enthusiasm for everything he performed, and he focused his attention on them. He dedicated his performance to a young fan, and he claimed that his memorial poster was torn off at another music festival by another overly enthusiastic audience who did not like his remarks. It is indeed naive, but the show continues. It shocked! The band sounds very compact, and the style is very similar to what I think is BLINK 182. Kelly even climbed to the top of the tent above the soundboard to perform part of the performance. This place is really lively. When I ran to the Coors Light stage to catch up with the first few songs of BODY COUNT, things became tricky, and then I went through more and more people to see GOJIRA, the French god of metal. BODY COUNT, just like SUICIDAL TENDENCIES the day before, tore it from the opening notes of their first song. It just happened to be "Raining Blood/Autopsy". That's right, a SLAYER cover opens the show. Naturally, there was chaos in the crowd, and singer Ice-T and his friends killed them. Next is a piece of 11 pure energy and crazy songs, practiced in the most active mosh pit of the day. There is a big bowl of adrenaline all around the stage. Guitarist Ernie C was torn apart, and Ice-T wandered and wandered on stage as he led the band to their final climax-the controversial "Cop Killer" in the 1992 first LP. Most of the people in the crowd waved their fists, screaming at every word. I was impressed, and so were the band members. GOJIRA, on the stage of Jack Daniels, this day in their own class. It was indeed the strongest metal band that appeared on the third day of the festival. These people knew their work and they did a good job. Starting with "Born For One Thing" in their latest Fortitude release, Mario Duplantier's incredible drum sound first truly attracts you. His technical skills match the huge volume of the mix, and as a drummer, he first attacked my senses. He is indeed the driving force of this unit. His brother, singer/guitarist Joe Duplantier and his deep roar are the hallmarks of the band. He always reminds me of the role of Mick O'Brian (Mick O'Brian) played by actor Sean Penn in the 1982 movie "Bad Boys." His enthusiasm for each song and his painful facial expression reflected that role, and Penn played the role brilliantly, going back in time. In addition, his vocal skills in songs such as "Stranded" and the avant-garde "Flying Wales" are truly unique. The crowds enjoyed every impromptu performance. I saw many "Air Guitarist" channel chief guitarist Christian Andrew throughout the show. It ended with some new "Another World" and the same heavy "Amazon". . It's always interesting to see my fellow Orange County compatriots OFFSPRING. Over the years, these guys have always had a lot of fun, there are a lot of popular materials, and there is a new version, their tenth is called Let The Bad Times Roll for promotion. I like a band with a sense of humor. After a whole day of tension, this is the perfect moment for a band that can laugh and revel in to play wonderful music. "You sound like an angel choir, you 2 million, you curse like sailors," guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman said with a smile to a crowd of about 35,000. Big hits like "Come Out And Play" and "Bad Habit" are very popular with the audience, and they really let them spin in sync with the fierce rhythm of the next song. The rotating mosh attracts them, drummer. Josh Freese is for the tour, one of the drummers I know is the best drummer. "Gotta Get Away", singer Dexter Holland's nasal voice provides a chorus among fans, which is a highlight, because Noodles once again said to Chenyun "There will be a lot of dirty nose". Yes, this band has a lot of laughter. An interesting piano solo in Holland's "Gone Away" gave a break to the crazy rhythm of OFFSPRING music, but only temporarily. More hits, such as "Why don't you get a job" and the hilarious "Pretty Fly (for a white man)", keep the crowd's songs busy while they are dancing and frolicking. The band finally ended these 15 songs with a crisp "Self Esteem". I think this song is a typical OFFSPRING song. Thanks to the band for their wonderful performance, and again to the people of DWP, they seem to arrange the rhythm of the band perfectly. What might you ask next? How about a set from the newly reformed MUDVAYNE? After resting for about 12 years, they performed their second performance again, and they excited the audience with ten songs. The band is led by singer Chad Gray (Chad Gray), dressed like a clown/alien combination, with heavy makeup and spiky hair to match their frightening, swift music rhythm, people Eat them. Starting with a vigorous "determination", from the beginning it was uninterrupted anxiety. The weird lighting enhanced the weirdness of the set, and when the performance of "The World Is So Cold" was halfway through, the fast-paced rhythm really slowed down. When they ended with "Dig", many people, including me, were ready for the cold. Judging from the audience's reaction, this is the most anticipated group so far, but there is one more. THE ORIGINAL MISFITS When they were charged, lead singer Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstien sang nearly 30 songs.鼓手Dave Lombardo(前一天来自SLAYER,前一天与SUICIDAL TENDENCIES 一起演奏)以及吉他手Acey Slade 加入了他们的舞台。 “Death To All But Metal”是一代人的赞歌,并结束了他们的演出。 以滚石乐队“Under My Thumb”的封面以及他们经典版本的Johnny Cash 的“Ring of Fire”开场,他们处于最紧张但又松散的自我。 METALLICA。 “Of Wolf And Man”是我喜欢这个乐队的一切的即兴演奏。 “Nothing Else Matters”对于观众中许多喝醉或用石头砸到极限的人来说几乎是一首合唱。在非常沉重的“Through the Never”之后,Hetfield 再次向人群发表讲话。 “你玩得开心吗?”,接着是一个俏皮的“好吧,把它关掉”是与观众建立联系的好方法。 “Don't Tread On Me”的冲锋声和Hammett 的吉他介绍“Whenever I May Roam”的模拟西塔琴使人群向前冲进了维修区。 RUYTER delicious mix of spicy fried chicken or pulled pork or sirloin on a bed of French fries or French fries. THE ORIGINAL MISFITS When they were charged, lead singer Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstien sang nearly 30 songs. Dave Lombardo (from SLAYER the day before and played with SUICIDAL TENDENCIES the day before) and guitarist Acey Slade joined their stage. To say that the crowd likes it is an understatement. The huge surge in the crowd during the opening number "Death Comes Ripping" is frightening. To be honest, I kept my distance and I am glad I did. What follows is a gothic nightmare, and this is what their fans have been waiting for. The combination of song rhythms, trembling guitar and bass combinations, some of which were actually broken and thrown into the crowd, and Glen Danzer's low chants are a sight to see. "All Hell Breaks Loose", the crazy "Astro Zombies" and the beloved "Die Die My Darling" are exactly what old-school MISFITS fans have been hoping to hear. The entire area in front of Kolas Stage looks like a war-zone. After two breaks for the 7 songs, the band ended with a classic "attitude", which is a metaphor for the entire performance of MISFITS. The unruly punk style, to be honest, I have seen it with my own eyes. On the last day of the holiday, Sunday, the fourth day, I handled things casually. In fact, I got there a bit late and missed the first few bands. However, I did get there in time and saw the wonderful performance of MAMMOTH WVH. For those who don't know, this is a band with Wolfgang Van Halen as the protagonist. He is the late son (it still feels weird to call EVH like this...) Edward Van Halen. There is a lot of hype and curiosity about his live pe

After being cancelled due to the Covid-19 crisis last year, the Aftershock Festival returned to the Discovery Park in Sacramento, the capital of California, for the ninth time.

Of course, DWP had to postpone and reschedule all activities until 2021.

Initially, in 2019, it was also announced that the 2021 Aftershock Festival would be performed by the reunited MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, but the band decided to postpone the tour until 2022. To make matters worse, the Covid-19 security issues should be blamed on the performers LIMP BIZKIT, who cancelled their reservations due to security issues, and their replacement FAITH NO MORE from the opening night of the festival.

However, CYPRESS HILL's performance is not completely rounded. They can still ignite the crowd as easily as igniting a blunt instrument. They ended the hour-long collection with three popular dances, including the crowd singing "Rock Star", the fashionable beat-driven "Insane In The Brain" and A more recent scene is the cover of HOUSE OF PAIN's classic "Jump Around", most of which are made by people who are equally exhausted and stoned. All in all, this is a great party and a great way to start the weekend. I arrived at the Discovery Park early on Friday, the second day of the festival, early enough to look around and see things before most of the crowd arrived. As soon as I walked in, I saw a series of panels about 15 feet x 15 feet. Each panel was decorated with a different METALLICA album cover. One of them had a MISFITS cover, which was very suitable for taking pictures. I did it naturally. As always, for the same purpose, there are huge panels to spell AFTERSHOCK. These are the details that DWP personnel continue to provide attendees. Over the years, they have provided a lot of things. Who can forget the metal and fire-breathing beasts at the Louisville Beat Life Music Festival a few years ago? I also visited some suppliers. METALLICA's official whiskey "Blackened" has a great booth and bar with a blend specially made with Blackened Whisky, as well as actual used METALLICA road boxes for visitors to sit or rest. Of course, there are also a lot of T-shirts and hats for sale. I also visited Ron Williams, the senior artist and artist of the festival. He is the owner of Ronzworld Guitars (www.itsronzworld.com) and he hand-painted guitars with the festival logo. He also auctioned them, and has a large number of hand-painted art panels and mini guitars, as well as a gallery just opened in Beacon, New York. It’s always a pleasure to meet Ron. We met a lot on weekends. Speaking of artists, Sean Dietrich (www.seandietrichart.com) returns to the festival with a new series of hand-painted artworks, on a variety of surfaces, including canvas, tapestries, silicone pads, T-shirts, and even custom painted Zippo lighters And a grinder for marijuana and other delicacies. His work is outstanding, and Sean is always ready to answer questions about his creation. The band now grins when facing the audience and then moved from the Kolas stage to the Jack D aniels stage, which is the most anticipated scene of the weekend. It just happens to be "Raining Blood/Autopsy". I saw many "Air Guitarist" channel chief guitarist Christian Andrew throughout the show, and finally came up with some new "Another World" and the same heavy "Amazon" Finish. There is a lot of hype and curiosity about his live performances, especially after releasing an absolutely wonderful debut album earlier this year. Oddly enough, when Jack Daniels appeared on the stage on time at 2 pm, not so many people squeezed into his stage area. Starting with a heavy "Don't Back Down", Mammoth WVH shocked the small but powerful crowd. The band has been rehearsed carefully and it sounds great. Wolfgang himself played very solidly, standing behind the keyboard he played from time to time. His singing reminds me of Mike Protich, the lead singer of the band RED SUN RISING in Toledo, Ohio. The song "You're To Blame" sang well because in my opinion, it is the best song on the record, although there is not a bad song among them. WVH seemed to enjoy the performance, although someone quoted him as saying that he did not enjoy the performance as people thought. He mentioned that this is the first time the band has booked a live performance and thanked the audience for their support. The song "Distance" dedicated to the late father was also sung very well, and I heard the audience screaming "We love you wolf" several times. Bassist Ronnie Ficarro and drummer Garrett Whitlock were locked in the introduction of "Epiphany", which ended all the overly brief settings. I like what I see and hear from this band. A great way to start a Sunday in the park. After that, I found a few songs from the always lively STEEL PANTHER. It's always great to see them perform in front of an audience outside of Los Angeles, because I have a few times. "Asian Hooker", "Weenie Ride" and other songs have a naive sense of humor, but I still can't help but like it. Especially when they literally "teabag" their audience with on-stage jokes between songs. "Death To All But Metal" was the hymn of a generation and ended their performance. They are all talented musicians, and their lyrics and attitude are very interesting. I recently watched BLACK VEIL BRIDES and at this moment last weekend, so I didn't watch too much of their sets, even though they made their fans happy with their killer combination of pop songs and theatrical stage performances. BVB has come a long way since I saw them for the first time and really got into my own state. Their opening song "Scarlett Cross" is a great rock song. It has a lot of heavy hooks and chorus chorus. They are very popular metals. Young girls scream, dance and sing along with "Knife and Pen", while young people blow drums and air guitars in the "Crimson Sky". Basically, this band has something for everyone. Singer Andy Bielsac is a true star who recently starred in the Amazon Prime video series Paradise City. At this moment, and has always been about drama. Singer Maria Brink has changed more costumes in the band's 6 songs than anyone other than Lady Gaga. Amidst the smoke and lights, she appeared in a robe and crown, walked off the platform, and played for the STEVE MILLER BAND before being undressed by the background dancers and changing between each song. ) The creepy version of the hit song "Fly Like An Eagle" Wail. She screamed and begged the audience attracted by her every move, and finally matched their most popular number "Prostitute" with her famous "Dunce Cap". On the stage of Coors Light, GRANDSON relied on their brand's call and response materials and on-stage antics, as well as YELAWOLF's hip-hop rock mix, to provide most young radical fans with plenty of fuel to vent. Back on the stage of Jack Daniels, the alternative rock singer PENNYWISE brought their madness to a crowded house, and they liked everything their hero brought to them. Highlights include bringing RISE AGAINST singer Tim McIlrath to about halfway through the stage to help produce the MINOR THREAT classic song "Minor Threat", and a cover of the AC/DC classic song "TNT", which made the entire crowd wave their fists and Shout "OY" with true solidarity. PENNYWISE ended their performance in their usual way, combining "Fuck Authority" and the ever-popular "Bro Hymn", the ultimate European style football stadium singing, with punk style MASTODON combined their doom metal style with technical metal in 10 awesome songs that shocked their fans and shook the Kolas stage. In fact, it seemed to end too soon. This band is incredible Breaking sound and chopped waves were magnified to new heights by Megalodon. Their latest single "Fallen Torches" shined in the crowd full of scenes, and then they changed gears, showing their own styles, starting from "Mother Many people in the "Blood And Thunder" crowd of "Puncher" at the end of the game were pulled from the track to a safe place, building strength from the beginning in a huge pit. When the social distortion appeared in Jack Daniel When they were on stage, things turned completely left. Normally, I live in Orange County in Southern California, where there is also a social distribution. Whenever they play, it becomes completely chaotic. Tonight, at the festival On the 4th and last day, after 6 pm on Sunday, the crowd may be waiting for the next band, or they may be tired. Social DISTORTION singer Mike Ness even noticed this. He talked about how the crowd is lacking on Sunday Energetic, at least for most of the hour of SOCIAL D, 11 songs seemed to be exactly that. However, the band did play one of the best combinations of the day. With the cover of the Rolling Stones "Under My Thumb" and their classic version Johnny Cash’s "Ring of Fire" opens, and they are in their most tense but loose selves. Ness dressed in a "Jeromes Boxing Gym" T-shirt and newsboy hat, tilted just right, swaying him in a series of social D hits The golden dome of Les Paul, including "I was wrong" and "California (hustle and flow)". The listless crowd applauded each song, but I did notice that there were no chaotic pits like the normal state I mentioned. "All your bosses know that you might not come to work tomorrow." An ironic Ness sneered before ending the episode with a wonderful "Story of My Life", which at least made the loyal fans of SOCIAL D (including myself) There is some singing and ridicule. Maybe it's because this is the largest crowd I have seen in one of their performances, but something is missing. Maybe I will meet the band at some point and ask their opinions.

Everyone was exhausted when they ended their performance with the "Oath of Allegiance".

On the Kolas stage, SEETHER did their thing for different groups of people. SEETHER plays carefully crafted songs and seems content to play them for fans. Except for the occasional rogue fans, there is really not much confusion or jumping in the SEETHER performance. The South African band led by singer/guitarist Shaun Morgan occasionally stomped on stage, but let the music do the talking. They played two of my personal favorite songs, which are the cute "Rise Above This" in 2008 and the wobbly "Bruised And Bloodied". In my opinion, these are the best of 2020. One of the singles. Their fans came out in droves, and their merchandise was everywhere. They ended their performance with "Fake It", and the huge radio hit "Remedy" was tailored to the excitement of this group of people to reach its peak. SEETHER props to make the most of their time period.

RANCID provided a very interesting and compact scene on the stage of Jack Daniels, considering their punk roots. They blended punk, root rock and ska music with the band that followed, almost like a natural chord progression. Appropriately, their opening number "Roots Radicals" confirmed this. Singer/bassist Matt Freeman's rock and roll sense, combined with guitarist/singer Tim Armstrong's almost weird stage performance and punk rock sense, and mainly punk-ska rhythm part, the style is very mixed. When mixed together again, you will get a very unique taste.

RANCID’s 19 song collections are constantly evolving from start to finish, and provide a lot of material to please the public. A good example is when they made a very compact version of "Hooligans", a good example is the 1998 ska skanking classic. Humiliation in the crowd. This happens again and again throughout the scene, with styles and rhythms constantly being mixed. When they ended the show with their favorite pair of "Time Bomb" and "Ruby Soho" from their classic 1995 and Out Come The Wolves LP, the smiling and working crowd agreed with their approval. This is my favorite group this weekend.

The band previously played this special number on a METALLICA tribute album. The introduction of "Dead But Rising" can still be attributed to METALLICA riff and the band attributed it all to itself.

A highlight for many people is the performance of a new song "Shotgun Blues" in their upcoming LP version. Fans like me who have been patiently waiting for new materials are very satisfied. VOLBEAT ended their performance with "Still Counting" in 2013. The band is now grinning when facing the audience, and they cordially praised the band for its outstanding performance. It's not easy to be a direct support band for headlines like METALLICA, but VOLBEAT did it the way they did, and it played badly.

The crowd then moved from the Kolas stage to the Jack Daniels stage to watch the most anticipated performance of the weekend.

It always holds a special place in my heart, and I have to admit that I had a drop or two of thinking when I heard it and saw it perform so well on this wonderful night, it started.

It just happens to be "Raining Blood/Autopsy".

I saw many "Air Guitarist" channel chief guitarist Christian Andrew throughout the show, and finally came up with some new "Another World" and the same heavy "Amazon" Finish.

Josh Freese is for the tour, one of the best drummers I know. "Gotta Get Away", singer Dexter Holland's nasal voice provides a chorus for fans, is a highlight, because Noodles once again said to Chenyun "There will be a lot of dirty nose".

In the smoke and light, she appeared in a robe and a crown, walked off the platform, and before being undressed by the background dancers and changing between each song, she confronted the old Steve Miller Band (STEVE MILLER BAND). ) A very creepy version of the hit song "Fly Like An Eagle" wailed.

Highlights include bringing RISE AGAINST singer Tim McIlrath to the stage for about half of the time to help MINOR THREAT classic "Minor Threat" and AC/DC classic "TNT". The entire crowd is waving their fists and shouting "OY" for real Unity. PENNYWISE ended their performance in their usual way, combining "Fuck Authority" and the ever-popular "Bro Hymn", the ultimate European style football stadium singing, with a punk style.

MASTODON shocked their fans with their doom metal style, and met technical metal in 10 awesome songs that shook the Kolas stage. In fact, it seems to be over too soon. The incredible sound breaking and chopping of this band was magnified to new heights by Megalodon. Their latest single "Fallen Torches" shined in the crowd, and then they switched gears and showed off their various styles, from the gloomy and gloomy "Mother Puncher" to the set ending with the "Blood And Thunder" raid. Many of the people in the crowd were pulled from the track to a safe place, in the huge pit of building strength from the beginning.

When social distortions appeared on the stage of Jack Daniels, things turned completely left. Normally, I live in Orange County in Southern California, where there is also SOCIAL DISTORTION, and it becomes completely chaotic whenever they play. Tonight, on the fourth and final day of the festival, after 6pm on Sunday, it may be the crowd waiting for the next band, or they may be tired.

Social DISTORTION singer Mike Ness even noticed this. He talked about the lack of vitality in the crowd on Sunday, at least for most of the hour of SOCIAL D, 11 songs seemed exactly like that. However, the band did play one of the best combinations of the day. Starting with the cover of the Rolling Stones "Under My Thumb" and their classic version of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire", they are in their most tense but loose selves. Wearing a "Jeromes Boxing Gym" T-shirt and newsboy hat, Ness leaned just right, shaking his golden top Les Paul in a series of social D hits, including "I was wrong" and "California (hustle and flow)" "The listless crowd applauded each song, but I did notice that there were no chaotic pits like the normal state I mentioned.

"All your bosses know that you may not come to work tomorrow." Before ending the set with the wonderful "Story of My Life", a sarcastic Ness sneered, which at least made the loyal supporters of Social D have some singing and Mocking, including myself. Maybe it's because this is the largest crowd I've seen in one of their performances, but it's just missing something. Maybe I will meet the band at some point and ask their opinions. Again, I am a fan and love everything they do.

At this time I was tired and hungry. I headed to the huge extended VIP area, where there are many food and drink options, including another "Drusky" food truck, and many comfortable places to sit and watch the live broadcast of RISE AGAINST on the huge video screen . It also provides a huge sound system, just like in the Kolas stage area a few hundred yards away. I found a glass of beer, tipped the volunteer beer waiters generously, took off my shoes, and enjoyed a carbohydrate-rich feast and set meal.

RISE AGAINST is a very radical rock band, I have seen it many times. They are energetic on stage and always seem to have too much fun to fight the pained expression on their faces. I like many of the songs they play, such as "Reeducation (Through Labor)" and the excellent "Ready to Fall" about halfway through the episode. Great song, just like the SEETHER band played the day before. When I was sitting on a comfortable chair in the VIP area, it suddenly occurred to me that I was missing something. Their stage performances did not help me in any way, and most of their songs are the same to me. They are very anti-climatic to a large extent. Singer Tim McIllrath is indeed a star, but for some reason, it doesn't suit me. Maybe it was the anticipation of METALLICA's upcoming episode that made me lose interest, but when they finished their episode with "Savior", I was already crowded with other people on the Jack Daniels stage, waiting for our hero from San Francisco.

Finally, the wait is over. The lights in the room dimmed again, and a movie clip of golden ecstasy appeared on the huge video screen, just like Friday. But this time, the band broke out "Hardwired", which is my favorite of their later works. When the crowd greeted Metallica with roars and various pits began, madness reigned again. People are on the trees, on the roadblocks, standing on the picnic tables in the VIP area. The "Four Horsemen" and "Welcome Home (Sanatorium)" continued to attack. James Hetfield's voice is very good. In fact, I may never have heard him sing so well. His energy is like a few years younger. Just as Kirk Hammett completed the lead guitar solo one by one, Hetfield and bassist Robert Trujillo gathered around Lars Ulrich's drum set, just like they were rehearsing. This band is very nervous!

Then, the video screen showed a brief tribute to the recording and release of the black album in 1991, and the scene where fans (many sports KNAC shirts) lined up to buy about 30 years ago. The band then appeared on stage again, and to celebrate the anniversary of the release, played the entire black album in a twisted way-in reverse order! I must admit that I was informed of this possibility in advance, but seeing METALLICA live performances was the same as when I saw them in 1991, and it gave me the same feeling as many years ago. Judging from the enthusiastic reaction of the audience, I am definitely not alone.

"The black album for you is here" Hetfield exclaimed, and he led the crowd to sing together in "My Friend of Misery". Trujillo and Ulrich are locked throughout the scene. Again, this is a meticulously rehearsed METALLICA. "Of Wolf And Man" is an improvisation of everything I like about this band. "Nothing Else Matters" is almost a chorus for many in the audience who are drunk or stoned to the limit.

After a very heavy "Through the Never", Hetfield spoke to the crowd again. "Are you having fun?" followed by a playful "OK, turn it off" is a great way to connect with the audience. The charging sound of "Don't Tread On Me" and Hammett's guitar introduction "Whenever I May Roam" simulated sitar made the crowd rushed into the pit lane. Putting on an acoustic guitar for "The Unforgiven" is Hetfield's popular way to settle the crowd, even if only temporarily.

Hertfield once again expressed his gratitude to the audience, and hilariously called it "After Shave Festival", and then led the audience into "sad but real". Kirk Hammett, dressed in a denim jacket decorated with black bats, was immersed in his own world on stage, using his various guitars to continuously produce crunching chords. He is really the glue that keeps this boat afloat, and has been so for years.

In the opening chord of "Into Sandman", I suddenly felt there was room for movement. It seems that many people in the crowd are walking towards the exit after a long day. I don't think there is a big "wow", I have more room to rock and roll. This is how I did it until the end of the song. The band then left the stage, but the crowd stayed behind and screamed for more. Then they came back, all the way back to Ride The Lightning LP, combined with "Fight Fire With Fire", the suddenly rejuvenated crowd began to trajectory. The band now fires like a cannon, rightly. An absolutely thunderous "death creep" followed, and Discovery Park fell into chaos again. This is not only the perfect way to end the set, but also the perfect way to end the festival. Did I mention fireworks? Oh yes, there was a short firework show and the band thanked the faithful and left the stage.

I went to the media tent and had a drink to calm myself down. It was then that I realized that my legs were no longer working and that my feet were killing me. I found the most comfortable chair in this place and sat down and thought with my drink. Not only this weekend’s celebration, but also everything that has happened in the past year and a half, and how it affects such festivals and even small performances. One of my greatest pleasures with live music is coming back in a huge way with some of the best bands on the planet, including the king of the metal genre, who just killed a group of admirers on the second of two nights.

I am fortunate to be able to participate in such an event, and the fact that the good guys at DWP acknowledge my existence year after year is something I cherish. What they experienced with 40,000 fans every day for 4 consecutive days should be awe-inspiring and amazing. Although the virus has affected the entire world, their team and agreement can still ensure everyone's safety, comfort, diet and happiness, which is shocking. This is not something that can be taken lightly. I applaud their efforts because I am exhausted. Every point of this matter and their other activities has been carefully thought out and resolved in everyone's best interests. I am grateful for everything they have done. Tribute to DWP and their team, band, staff, suppliers, volunteers and the city of Sacramento, once again made my experience a joy. Looking forward to the aftershock festival next year. Hope to see you there!
