While many fans lined up for photos and autographs from returning Dakar Rally champion Toby Price, his proud Singleton based parents John and Pauline watched on with pride.

"You always support your kids in anything they take on, today really shows that he's appreciated and I think he's shocked how many people showed up," his father John told the Singleton Argus.

"It was actually Toby's racing which brought us here from Hillston to Singleton in 2003 because he was signed from Kawasaki in Sydney and they wanted him to be based there.

"But we opted to move to Singleton instead and Kawasaki were happy with that so we headed here with no real job to come to but we wanted to help Toby progress with his career."

Pauline added with tongue in cheek, "He's determined and pig-headed and the worst thing you can say to him is 'don't do it' because then he'll end up doing it."
