Claire Daniels is the CEO of Trio Media, an integrated marketing agency based in Leeds.

Trio's expertise covers web design, social media, search engine optimization, video, etc.-its name is derived from the three values that underpin its work: performance, creativity and customer satisfaction.

Daniels joined Trio in 2019, acquired the original founder of the agency, and took over as its owner in 2020. Previously, she held internal positions including Smoothwall Marketing Director and Netpremacy Marketing and Communications Director.

We discovered what a week in Claire's life was like.

I start my work week at 6 in the morning-my SAD alarm is ringing, it is designed to wake me up with light to fight against the dark morning.

Before going to the gym, I got up and fed my dog Willow and cat Harry. Monday’s workout included a 10-minute warm-up on a treadmill, followed by a 20-minute spinning HIIT course and a 20-minute stepper. Sweaty, but this is a great way to start the week!

Work directly from the gym-every day at 9 o'clock in the morning, I will hold a plenary meeting with the entire Trio Media team to discuss any urgent actions or issues that we need to resolve as a team. Next, I want to review some job applications; we are currently hiring and have received a large number of applications, so we ask candidates to take a 60-second video explaining why we should hire them.

I watched all of these and listed the people I would like to invite for an interview. I mainly do this type of management in the morning, because I have a new beginner to join in a few weeks, so I make sure that I have sorted out all the paperwork and equipment.

After lunch, I started preparing for the year-end performance and strategy presentation that I will provide to my team. This is the first time I have officially shared our 40% year-on-year growth, which was an amazing result during the pandemic.

At 3 pm, I had a meeting with some teams from the Children's Heart Surgery Foundation, and I am happy to announce that I have just been appointed as the trustee. I met with marketing manager Andy and fundraising manager Ellie and discussed the ways I can support charity. After this, I went home and got stuck in the road and had a nightmare!

When I get home, I will do a few more hours of work on the sofa, make tea, and relax.

Another one starts at 6 o'clock in the morning, and today I will exercise my leg and buttocks muscles in the gym! I already know that I will be injured tomorrow.

In our daily All Hands, I remind everyone of colleagues who took annual and sick leave that day, and discuss any resource issues. After an event last week, one of our main focuses was to make sure we follow up with everyone we talked to.

From 10 am to 12 pm, I participated in the first MarFun (marketing and fundraising) meeting of the Children's Heart Surgery Foundation. After that, we will talk directly to one of our content writers and introduce him to a new website project we won; then, I will help solve some technical problems of the websites we support.

Before hosting a confidence seminar with my team, I quickly had lunch-this is something we have been planning for years! In the workshop, we covered some public speaking exercises; let individuals stand up and talk about random topics they gave on the spot.

After that, I replied to some emails, then quickly went out for a manicure, and then returned to the office when we took the client out for dinner.

Dinner is at The Ivy; we have a good meal and can talk about the future plans and support we can provide to our customers. After dinner, we went to each other, I went home to rest, and went to bed at 9 in the evening.

Waking up again at 6 in the morning, I did something different this morning and joined a yoga class instead of my normal exercise. I think I need it because I have been stiff and painful!

In the office, this is a busy meeting morning; the daily team is full, and then there is a Christmas planning meeting with the team. In this meeting, we covered customers who need support during Christmas, customers who need our support during Christmas activities, and our overall plan for Christmas marketing in December.

After that, I had a one-on-one meeting with my team members, and then two more back-to-back meetings; one was a briefing call for the new website project we are launching, and the other was with the university work internship team Contact to find out how our work placement student is progressing (I should add that she is great).

A quick bite to eat during the trip, I was catching up with emails and tasks before interviewing someone at 2:30pm. On this hump day, we ran up the stairs quickly and then stepped back as a team to get some energy!

After a few productive working hours, I will participate in monthly social activities with the team; tonight, we are going to bowling and then Nando's. We had such a fun night; my bowling was the last one, and we played in the arcade before dinner.

I couldn't get up this morning, so I set the alarm clock to 7 am. Instead of going to the gym, I go to the supermarket to buy a birthday cake for Colleen from the team for tomorrow’s birthday.

At 9 o'clock in the morning, we held a plenary meeting to discuss with new opportunities, new clients onboarding and providing the team with the latest recruitment information.

This morning, I have been helping the team come up with ideas for social events for new clients, draft paperwork for new contractors, and negotiate with another person.

At lunchtime, I went out to do some errands, including visiting the local company where we bought cakes (bring a box of free chocolate cakes-it turned out!) and one of our customers, a vegetarian cafe, to buy some lunch.

The afternoon is more about management, tracking invoices, talking to the bank, ordering equipment for novices, and creating some content for public relations.

I left at about 6 pm and suddenly went to see my mother on the way home. I get home at about 7:30 pm, go to bed and work until 10 pm-I write content for a new page on our website, write a blog post, do some keyword research for Trio, and conduct research on our website Some optimizations.

Go back to the gym this morning. I ran 5K in 35 minutes and then entered the steam room for 10 minutes before getting ready to work. The day begins to take shape-in our All Hands this morning, we discussed a lot of Trio marketing after thinking about it last night, and then entered our plan for the day.

At 10 am, I had a one-on-one interview with my team members, and then another interview. At lunch, I ordered mustard while I was working and talked on the phone with the Chairman of the Trustee of the Children's Heart Surgery Foundation.

At the same time, my team is doing "cultural blending" with a potential new candidate; this is a process we have been doing. Candidates can meet with the team without me, understand the business, and then the team Can provide feedback on whether they think the person is suitable.

In the afternoon, I am studying many new business opportunities, discussing new projects with customers and helping the sales team brainstorm ideas for their potential customers. Normally, we will hold a sales meeting at the end of the day, but we are so busy that we will not hold it today.

I broke down when I got home-my husband made dinner, and I went to bed at 8pm because I didn't feel well.
